4th grade is learning all about hot air balloons as we work on a novel study with the book, The Twenty-One Balloons. We are learning the functions of the different parts of a hot air balloon and we're exploring the advantages and disadvantages of using a hot air balloon for traveling.

4th grade is also learning a lot about interpersonal skills, effective communication, teamwork, and how to be an active listener when working with a group.
2nd grade is off to a great start in Target! Recently, we discussed how we want to represent ourselves to the world and what we want others to know about us. Our selfies show our personalities:

Football Brainteaser

Natalie, in Ms. Nixon's 4th grade Target class, was the only one to solve the football brainteaser.
WAY TO GO!!

Keypunch Challenge

Ms. Nixon's 4th graders participated in a team building challenge. The team had to enter the "restricted area" (cafeteria), press the keys (spots on the floor) on the keyboard in sequential order from one to 30, and get out of the "restricted area" in less than 30 seconds.  Oh, and only one team member could touch the keys at a time!
Although the team was unable to accomplish the challenge in the allotted time, they did come up with great strategies and use some of our group dynamic skills (cooperation, problem-solving, reliability, flexibility, etc.) to work together as a team!
