1st Grade Target - 11/10/15

As part of our "Helicopter Hang Time" STEM unit, the students learned about rotor blades and conducted fair  flight tests.

The students were also thrilled to FINALLY get outside for recess and enjoy the sunshine!

1st Grade Target - 11/3/15

Every day is an adventure in 1st grade Target! Today, Daniel brought in a hydraulic robotic arm that he built at home as a connection to our Leonardo da Vinci unit. Early evidence of the understanding of the use of hydraulics was demonstrated by Leonardo da Vinci when he made sketches of simple hydraulic pumps. The students were fascinated by the robotic arm and enjoyed using it to grasp, lift, and move items.

As part of our "Helicopter Hang Time" STEM unit, the students worked together to sequence the steps of the engineering process.

After some independent journal writing time, we had a circle time conversation about overcoming obstacles and taking risks.
